US Breaking- Amritsar;

Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, president of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, has strongly condemned the police arresting an Amritdhari Sikh student at the University of North Carolina Charlotte, USA, for wearing a Sikh Kakar Kirpan and removing his Kirpan from the university campus.

He said that Kirpan is one of the five virtues of Sikhism and according to the Sikh tradition, the Amritdhari (Baptised Sikh) is bound to keep the Sikh virtues always with him.

Humiliating a Sikh Amritdhari student for wearing a kakar is a major violation of the religious rights of Sikhs, for which the US government should take action against the culprits.

India’s Foreign Minister Dr. Appealed to S Jay Shankar and Indian Ambassador to America Taranjit Singh Sandhu to pay attention to this matter and ensure that the religious sentiments of Sikhs are not hurt in future.
