Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Maan has decided to identify private lands as quarries and approve them to provide cheap sand/gravel to the people of the state.

Giving information in this regard, Harjot Singh Bains, Minister of Mining and Geology of Punjab State, said that for approval of new sand/gravel quarries in the state, the landowners should self-identify the quarries, the ownership of the land and other documents related to this work. Engineer-cum-District Mining may deposit in the office.

Bains said that the scrutiny/evaluation/opportunity inspection of the applications received regarding new quarries will be done by the sub-divisional committee. Based on the report of the committee, the new pits will be included in the district survey report.

He said that more information in this regard can be obtained from the website of the department. Bains said that with this decision of the department, people will soon start getting sand and gravel at cheap prices.
