Punjab Government has  been declared two colonies of District SBS Nagar  and Fazilka African Swine  Feaver affected zones.indian  Council of  Agricultural Research  (ICAR)-National High Security Veterinary institute  Bhopal has confirmed African swine of pigs sent from these areas.

Laljit Singh Bhullar Animal Husbandry , Fisheries and Dairy development of Punjb said that Colony Musapur of district SBS  and Badal Colony of Fazilka under “Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases in Animals Act, 2009” and ”National Action Plan for Control and Eradication of African Swine Fever ( June 2020) There compliance is being ensured by imposing restrictions.

He said that according to the policy of the government of  India  RS 2200 for slaughtering a pig weighing up to 15 kg,Rs 5800 for a pig weighing 15 kg to 40 kg. Rs 8400 for  a p ig weighing 40kg to 70kg ,70 kg to 100 kg .up to compension of Rs12000,will be given  for a pig  weighing  up  to 100kg and Rs 15,000,for a pig weighing   more than 100 kg .

Similarly ,pig feed destroyed within the ” Infection Zone ” will also be compensated  at Rs 22 persh kg. He said that compensation should be given directly deposited in   the bank account of the concerned pig farmers.

The cabinet minister emphasized that African Swine Fever does not spread from animals. Therefore, there is no fear of infection to humans or other animals.
