New Delhi Former IAS officer Arun Goyal has been appointed as the Election Commissioner in the Election Commission. His appointment was announced by the government in a press statement. Sushil Chandra retired from the post of Chief Election Commissioner in May this year after which Rajeev Kumar took charge. Arun Goyal’s appointment as the Election Commissioner in the Election Commission comes at a time when the assembly elections are about to be held in Gujarat. Elections will be held in two phases in Gujarat.

 

 

Out of which the first phase of voting is to be held on December 1 and the second phase of voting is to be held on December 5. The results of both the phases will be released on December 8. 1985 batch Punjab cadre officer Arun Goyal along with Chief Election Commissioner Rajeev Kumar and Election Commissioner Anoop Chandra Pandey will join the poll panel. His appointment was announced by the government in a press statement. Sushil Chandra retired from the post of Chief Election Commissioner in May this year, after which Rajiv Kumar took over.
