A video of SI taking bribe went viral on social media.
During the Anti- Corruption Campaign Launched by the Punjab Vigilance Bureau,a case has beeb registered today against a Sub-Inspecter (SI) Jagandeep Singh of the Punjab Police posted at Bagha Purana Police Station on the charge of accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000.
Giving this informition here today a spokesman of the Vigilance Bureau said ,this case is registered on the basis of the bureau regarding the video clip of Jagandeep Singh which went viral on Social media.
Givin the details of the case ,he said that Mandeep Singh alias hipa,a resident of village Kotla Mehar Sngh Wala ,district Moga,was arrested by NDPS as 190 drug pills were recovered. A case was registred under the Act at Baghapurana police station .In exchange for helping the accused Mandeep Singh involved in this case , SI Jagagandeep Singh recieved a bribe of Rs 20,000 from the accused’s brothe Amandeep Singh .
After this, asting opreation about the bribe obtained by Amandeep Singh Vagaira went viral,in which a bribe currency note of Rs 20,000 was taken out from the back pocket of the pants worn by Jagandeep Singh and matched with the numbers of the previously photostated notes and the video.In the said SI,he has admitted his mistake .The spokesperson said that while being a public servant,the accused S.I Jagandeep Singh has committed an offense Under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act,due to which a case has been registered against him at Vigilance Bureau police station Ferozepur.
