Strict action by Punjab vigilance, assistant registrar arrested for taking bribe
Punjab Vigilance Bureau has today arrested Davinder Kumar, Assistant Registrar, Co-operative and Marketing Societies, Block Dasuha, District Hoshiarpur red-handed for accepting a bribe of Rs.20,000.
Giving this information here today, the spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said that the said Davinder Kumar has been arrested on the complaint of the complainant Tajinder Singh of village Bercha, district Hoshiarpur. There were 70 co-operative societies in this block under Devinder Kumar.
Giving details, he said that the complainant has alleged in his complaint to Vigilance that when he was posted as Manager, Co-operative Society, Tanda, then Davinder Kumar, Assistant Registrar, Co-operative Societies Block Dasuha is now Additional Charge Deputy. Registrar Co-operative Society Hoshiarpur filed a case of embezzlement against him.
Despite the decision in his favor after examining the appeal filed by Registrar Co-operative Societies, Punjab, Chandigarh against this case, Accused Davinder Kumar, Assistant Registrar did not allow him to join duty but recovered another embezzlement case against him. An investigation was opened.
The complainant told Vigilance that accused Davinder Kumar had already taken Rs 5,000 as bribe from him and now he is demanding Rs 50,000 in return for investigating this fresh case in his favour.
After investigating the allegations made by the complainant, the vigilance has arrested the said accused red-handed after taking a bribe of Rs. 20,000 from the complainant in the presence of two government witnesses. In this regard, case number 20 dated 10-10-2022 has been registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act at Police Station Vigilance Bureau, Jalandhar and further investigation in this regard is ongoing.
