In view of the zero tolerance policy adopted by the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann against corruption, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau launched an anti-bribery campaign against ASI stationed at Noorpur Bedi police station in district Rupnagar. Jujhar Singh has been arrested red-handed by taking a bribe of Rs 5,000.
Giving information in this regard, the spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said that the accused ASI. Jujhar Singh has been arrested on the complaint of Barjinder Singh, resident of village Mataur, Sri Anandpur Sahib.
Giving further details, he said that the complainant has approached the Vigilance Bureau and alleged that the said accused A.S.I. He was demanding a bribe of Rs 10,000 from him. He also alleged that ASI Jujhar Singh has already taken Rs 5000 as first installment of bribe and is now demanding another Rs 5000 to leave his vehicle.
The spokesperson further said that after investigating the facts and evidence related to the complaint, the team of Vigilance Bureau ASI. Jujhar Singh was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 as second installment from the complainant in the presence of two government witnesses.
In this regard, under section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, Vigilance Bureau’s Police Station Flying Squad-1, Punjab, SAS Nagar, FIR No. 16 dated 30-09-2022 has registered a case against the said accused and started further proceedings.
