Punjab Vigilance Bureau has arrested Pansp Inspector Raman Gaur posted at Barnala on the charge of accepting a bribe of Rs 25000. Meanwhile, in another case, the former sarpanch of village Ajnauda Khurd, Patiala has been arrested on charges of manipulation of 5.70 lakh rupees in panchayat funds.
Giving information in this regard, the spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said that during the investigation of the FIR No. 25/21 registered at the Patiala police station of the Vigilance Bureau, the said Inspector Pansap has been named as an accused.
The spokesperson said that he was accused of taking a bribe of Rs 25,000 from a shopkeeper along with another inspector of PUNSP, Pukhraj Singla, to pay his bills.
Pukhraj Singla has already been arrested in this case. The vigilance team has recovered an amount of Rs 3.40 lakh from Raman Gaur during the search. Further investigation of the matter is ongoing.
The spokesperson further said that in another case, Vigilance Bureau Patiala Range has arrested former Sarpanch Sukhwinder Kaur of village Ajnauda Khurd, District Patiala on charges of embezzlement of Rs 5.70 lakh in Gram Panchayat funds during her tenure. He said that further investigation of the matter is going on.
