Announcement of Concessions for Straw Based Standalone Bio-Fuel Projects by Amending Industrial and Business Development Policy-2017 and Detailed Schemes and Operational Guidelines-2018

The Punjab Cabinet under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Monday approved amendments to the Industrial and Trade Development Policy-2017 and Detailed Schemes and Operational Guidelines-2018 to curb the problem of stubble blowing and its appropriate solution.

Under which concessions were given for biofuel projects for stand-alone bio-ethanol units for installing boilers using straw as fuel.

The technology of using straw-based boilers is evolving and units that will not install straw-based boilers will get 50 per cent less concessions.

This exemption will increase the production and supply of ethanol for the Ethanol Blended Petrol (EBP) program of the Government of India and will also increase investment and employment opportunities in the sector. Apart from this, proper disposal of stubble will be ensured, which will get rid of the problem of stubble blowing in the state.
