• .Punjab Government issued a notice to  274 contractors
  • High Court put a stay on the new mining policy

Chandigarh:

The High Court has given another blow to the Punjab government. The High Court has stayed the Punjab government’s new mining policy.

The Punjab government had issued notices to 274 contractors for mining in Punjab without obtaining the district survey report and environment clearance given by the Centre.

A new mining policy was issued by the Punjab government, due to not getting the environment clearance ,the new word Excavation was used, under which the Punjab government could mine the minerals.

The petitioner has alleged that the government is trying to legalize illegal mining by using the new term in the absence of environmental clearance.

The lawyer of the Punjab government assured the High Court that nothing will be done on this mining policy till the next date, after which the High Court stayed the next date.
