State level Clean India Day is being celebrated in Hoshiarpur on October 2
Punjab Water Supply and Sanitation Minister Bram Shankar Jimpa said that the state-level Clean India Day is being celebrated on October 2 at Hoshiarpur. He said that on this occasion, 23 panchayats of the state who have managed solid and liquid waste properly will be honored by giving a prize of 23 lakh rupees (one lakh rupees per panchayat). 3 other panchayats will also be encouraged by giving 10 thousand rupees each.
Apart from this, officers who perform well will also be honored. During this time, street plays, short films and other presentations related to cleanliness will be the center of special attraction. Jimpa said that the government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is doing excellent work for the supply of clean and potable water in the villages.
Apart from this, names have also been registered at the national level for the maintenance and management of waste in villages. He said that currently 15 districts of the state (Hoshiarpur, Malerkotla, Faridkot, Jalandhar, Barnala, Fatehgarh Sahib, Pathankot, Gurdaspur, SAS Nagar, Kapurthala, Mansa, Ludhiana, Sri Muktsar Sahib, Patiala and SB Clean water is being provided from house to house in all 8292 villages of Nagar). These 15 districts will also be honored during the event.
Water Supply and Sanitation Minister further informed that Swachh Bharat Mission Rural (Phase-2) has been started in the state. He said that under this mission, proper management of solid and liquid waste will be done in all the villages. jimpa said that efforts have been intensified to declare every village ODF Plus by March 2025.
It is noteworthy that from September 15 to October 2, various activities have been encouraged by running a campaign on the topic of garbage cleaning and waste management. Water Supply and Sanitation Minister Bram Shankar Jimpa will be the chief guest while Punjab Vidhan Sabha Deputy Speaker Jai Krishan Singh Rory will be the special guest on the occasion of the state-level Clean India Day.
