Giving this information, the Minister of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs of the state, Lal Chand Kataruchak, said today that during the Kharif season 2022-23, the minimum support set by the Government of India from the group procurement agencies is Rs. 2060/- per quintal of paddy grade-A and Rs. 2040/- per quintal of paddy common variety, will be procured.
The procurement of paddy will start from 01.10.2022 and will continue till 30.11.2022. The Government of India has set a target of procurement of a total of 184.45 lakh mt of paddy for the government procurement agencies while the necessary arrangements for the procurement of a total of 191 lakh mt of paddy have been completed by the state government.
The principal secretary of the department Rahul Bhandari said that 1804 traditional mandis have been notified by the Punjab Board during the kharif season 2022-23 and 364 RG mandis have been notified to avoid the situation of overcrowding during the season. Complete arrangements have been made for the rice paddies required for the purchase of paddy.
